On the road....

We are currently in Ohio!  Just another hour and half until we reach the hotel in Dayton...
Yesterday was a looong day... my driving skills were put to the test.  We had a total of 8 stops.  The first claim was an hour from our hotel, the last was just under an hour from the hotel, and we had at least 30-45 mins of driving between EVERY appointment.  We loved it (sarcasm).
Our night last night was GREAT, though!  We found a beautiful trail near our hotel that went uphill, winding and curving through the beautiful, green forest.  The weather was perfect, the sun was setting, and the hills were TOUGH, which is what we wanted! If running uphill, on semi-jagged (not exaggerating) rocks, in barefoot running shoes, through the forest in CT doesn't get you 'tough mudder ready', then I'm not sure what does. :)  It was a great run together.  After our run we grabbed dinner, did laundry (free at the hotel), and prepped for today.
This morning we had 3 quick appointments, grabbed subway, packed up our hotel room, and hit the road around 1:15pm.  I drove for the first 5 and a half hours while Dan worked on our CT claims from the passenger seat.  Then Dan took over driving and we 'tag teamed' scheduling our claims for the coming week.   The insureds we talked to claim the storm produced baseball to softball sized hail, damaging roofs, siding, gutters, grills, breaking windows, etc.  If that's true, then as unfortunate as that is for all of those people, this should be a great storm to run for Dan and I!  There are 2 huge perks with this storm as well... 1) the claims are centralized, and 2) if all of the damage is exterior, the insureds don't need to be home; we're literally scheduling claims in the same neighborhood on the same day.
We're going to start the ground running tomorrow with 6 claims in the afternoon, then 10 on Monday and 10 on Tuesday.
I'm really enjoying the ride so far, and can't wait to learn more about the damage hail and wind can bring. It's been really fun to see Dan in this different "world"; his talents will never cease to amaze me.
